Skilled technician Gordon Carter brings his son to fetch the bride from her father's home — the workshop director's family. They demand a steep "door-opening fee," then abruptly ask for $30,000 more just to be called "dad." Despite the Carters' patience, the bride mocks them. Seeing through their greed, Gordon refuses the wedding on the spot.
