After her husband dies, Maeve Gallagher's sexist mother-in-law, Beatrice Sullivan, conspires with trafficker Gimpy Barnes to kidnap her granddaughter, Lily. When her son, Connor Gallagher, is crippled defending her, Maeve resorts to selling a kidney to save him. Meanwhile, Charles Kensington's corruption is exposed, and he forces Audrey into an abusive marriage. Despite Audrey suffering domestic violence, Maeve secretly watches over her.
